The Toronto Maple Leafs have their eye on a Winnipeg Jets goalie Laurent Brossoit, who has expressed interest in the possibility of playing for Toronto.

The Leafs are reportedly interested in Winnipeg Jets goaltender Laurent Brossoit. According to 'The Athletic's' James Mirtle, Toronto is considering Brossoit, with Brissoit having interest to join as well.

Mirtle says Laurent Brossoit, currently the backup in Winnipeg to Connor Hellebuyck, is looking for a team where he'd get more frequent starts.

Brossoit hasn't played a ton, but he has put up good numbers the past few seasons. His top priority as a 31-year-old UFA is going to be to go to a good team where he can start frequently. The Leafs fit the bill, and my understanding is there is mutual interest.

Mirtle also says that the potential of a top starting option for the players that have been linked to new teams, Jacob Markstrom and Linus Ullmark as examples, may be too hefty given teams offering high picks for them, including the New Jersey Devils at 10.

Brossoit would likely be the 1B to Joseph Woll, with it seemingly unlikely Ilya Samsonov will be back in Toronto. Mirtle says a Brossoit deal will likely be a short-term contract in the $3M range.

Brossoit, 31, had a 15-5-2 record in 23 games with the Jets this past season, with a 2.00GAA and a .927SV%. In comparison, Hellebuyck, a Vezina finalist, has a 2.39GAA and a .921SV%.
