After winning the Stanley Cup, the Vegas Golden Knights retained most of their roster. While they did not get better, they also did not get much worse.
After their cup win, it became clear that the Golden Knights have a hole in their roster; a right-handed defenseman. They currently have only Alex Pietrangelo and Zach Whitecloud as their NHL-caliber right-handed defensemen. On the other hand, they have 4 left-handed defensemen in Alec Martinez, Shea Theodore, Brayden McNabb, and Nic Hauge.
A recent trade proposal has emerged that would upgrade their blueline in more than one way.
This mock trade would give Vegas one of the best if not the best defensive core in the NHL. Pesce would slot in alongside Shea Theodore to form a dominant 2nd pairing.
Pesce would be the Knights' best shutdown defender which is difficult to do considering their loaded blueline.
In return, Carolina would be getting Nic Hauge, a left-shot defenseman which the Golden Knights have too many of, Pavel Dorofeyev, and a first-round pick.
While this is an apparent downgrade for Carolina who is their championship window right now, these assets would be used to trade for Erik Karlsson who would be an upgrade over Pesce.
