Last season, the Vegas Golden Knights had a constant rotation of goaltenders. Last season alone, they had five goaltenders play NHL games: Laurent Brossoit, Adin Hill, Jonathan Quick, Jiri Patera, and Logan Thompson. On top of this, they had Robin Leher on the LTIR all season.
With such a deep amount of talent, the Golden Knights were forced to move on from a couple. Jonathan Quick and Laurent Brossoit both signed elsewhere in free agency. This leaves Patera, Hill, Thompson, and Lehner.
Recently, insider Eklund of HockeyBuzz.com revealed which Golden Knights goaltender was on the trade block.
Last season, Logan Thomspon burst on the NHL scene. He went from undrafted to the Golden Knights' number-one goaltender when healthy. He impressed as well posting a 2.65 GAA and a .915 sv%.
He is currently making well under a million dollars for the next two seasons so he costs next to nothing against the cap and considering his value, he is on one of the best contracts in the NHL.
While Eklund does not reveal how much it would cost to get Thompson, he does elude that it will cost a fair amount. With the Sabres and Devils both having plenty of future assets to give up, we could watch a bidding war begin with both teams looking to land Thompson.
As seen on HockeyBuzz.com - Sabres and Devils BOTH still with hopes of a goalie.
