In a high-stakes game, everything is looked at under a microscope. Every little detail is important, and a particular sequence didn't sit well among Panthers' fans.
In the first period, things heated up when a brawl erupted in Adin Hill's zone.
Hill ignited the situation when he shoved Bennett. Then, Cousins came in to defend his teammates. Hill attacked Cousins, Cousins retaliated, and every Knight came after him.
At the beginning of the playoffs, a lot of people criticized the referees. Now, the debate might reopen as not everyone is pleased with the decision.
Cousins was the only one to be penalized.
Even though he landed a lot of hits, Hill wasn't punished.
Decisions like this one will clearly frustrate the fans and the NHL will once again bury its head in the sand instead of doing something useful.
