Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie made a devastating announcement on his Twitter on July 22, stating that a former high school teammate passed away unexpectedly on Friday.
A high school connection
Michael Tveit and Oshie go all the way back to Warroad High School in Minnesota, the start of a journey that would see Oshie become one of the best players in Washington Capitals franchise history.
Tveit would head back to Warroad High School and join the coaching staff before shockingly passing away in his sleep on Friday.
Prayers for the family
Tveit leaves behind a beautiful family of his wife and three sons, as well as a legacy of compassion, competitiveness and love, which will all be missed dearly by the Minnesota and wider hockey community.
The family have set up a GoFundMe to help them through a tough period, which can be found here or on the above Tweet of Oshie: In Memory of Michael Tveit
