A name growing some popularity in connection to Boston is Winnipeg Jets star forward Mark Scheifele.
With multiple contributing factors, the chances of Mark Scheifele being moved to Boston this summer are growing higher.
Firstly, the Jets are seeming to want to hit the restart button, as they have been struggling with playoff success with their current roster. Scheifele has also voiced his concern on this, as he has come out to inform the team that he does not want to renew his contract and that he would be open to a trade elsewhere.
Additionally, the Bruins are looking to be losing their captain trooper Patrice Bergeron for good, as he may very well be announcing his retirement very soon. Boston has been known for their top-notch offensive line of Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak for the last selection of years now, and with Bergy's departure, they are going to need a substitute.
Rather than look internally within their roster, the crumbling relationship between Scheifele and the Jets has caught general manager Don Sweeney's eye.
With the combination of Scheifele's offensive firepower in scoring ability and fearlessness on the ice, it seems to be a perfect fit for him in Boston. He would slot right in on the top line of Marchand and Pastrnak and be able to create a huge amount of opportunities for one another. Elliotte Friedman had this to say about this increasing possibility:
With this offseason just getting underway, we should definitely expect to see the Bruins be a hot topic as to what they decide to do. It will definitely be something not to miss.
