The Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings are closing in on a trade for former third overall pick Pierre-Luc Dubois.

The Trade

Dubois has made it clear he wants out of Winnipeg and the LA Kings are seemingly moving closer to acquiring the young forward.

Dubois now has three 60 point seasons in his first 6 NHL years with all 3 seasons nearing the 30-goal mark.

Gabe Vilardi seems to be a piece going back to other way if the Jets and Kings can agree on a deal.

The former 11th overall pick Vilardi broke out last year with 23 goals and 41 points in only 63 games for the Kings, he continued his success against the Edmonton Oilers in the playoffs collecting 4 points in the 5 game series.

Dubois' troubles

Dubois is currently an restricted free agent and for the second time in 6 years wants a change of scenery.

Dubois was traded for Patrick Laine back in 2021 after he voiced his demands to be moved away from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This has lead to NHL teams shying away from the 25-year-old forward due in part to his inability to commit long term to the teams he has been on.

However, Dubois has stated he wants to go to either the LA Kings or the Montreal Canadiens.
