Craig Berube goes West to interview with the Winnipeg Jets
Craig Berube is the hottest available coach on the market, and while he's got strong links to the Leafs, that's not the only Canadian team he's interviewed with.
For the past week, it has seemed inevitable that Craig Berube will end up with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but now, that certainty has gone away following a report from Frank Seravalli.
Sounds like Craig Berube is scheduled to be in Winnipeg today to interview with #gojetsgo.
After significant time spent with #LeafsForever, #njdevils and #goSENSgo, he is the most in-demand coach this hiring cycle. Could he steer #nhljets away from Scott Arniel?
After a fantastic regular season, the Winnipeg Jets faltered in the playoffs, losing 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche, before the retirement of Rick Bowness, who himself drew plenty of criticism for his work behind the bench in the playoffs.
Berube has drawn interest from Toronto, Ottawa and New Jersey before Winnipeg came calling, and with so much talent on both Canadian teams, it will be a difficult decision for the former Stanley Cup Champion.
After a successful stint in St. Louis, Berube has a stellar reputation around the league, and with both Winnipeg and Toronto looking to take the next step towards Stanley Cup glory, his decision will be huge for the landscape of the NHL.
