Maple Leafs Mark Giordano and Canucks Dakota Joshua Drop the Gloves in a Heated Fight
Things got heated quickly this evening between the Canucks and the Leafs. Leafs defenseman Mark Giordano took offense to a questionable hit on David Kampf and responded by dropping the gloves with a young Canucks forward.
Giordano And Joshua Drop The Gloves
The play came last than five minutes into the game as Giordano did not appreciate the hit Joshua made on his teammate, David Kampf. Interestingly, the fourth line, including Ryan Reaves, was on the ice, but it was the 40-year-old defenseman that stepped up instead of the enforcer.
Giordano became a fan favorite almost immediately once he came to Toronto. The fans in Scotiabank arena made sure to show him some love for the fight.
Reactions on social media were priceless as Leafs circles applauded the veteran for the surprise fisticuffs.
Giordano Takes one for the team
One bad thing to come from the play was the fact that Giordano got an instigator penalty, putting his team down a man for 2 minutes. The fans in the building seemed to be okay with that trade though as standing up for teammates is important, especially on this Leafs team that has been accused of being soft.
The 40-year-old also picked up a 10 minute misconduct on the play.
The Leafs and Canucks are currently tied 1-1.
