Ryan Reaves and Nic Deslauriers Drop The Mitts in a Wild Fight
Toronto Maple Leafs tough guy Ryan Reaves lived up to his notorious name this evening, March 19th, 2024, as he dropped the gloves with Flyers enforcer Nicolas Deslauriers.
Less than five minutes into the first period of today's game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ryan Reaves and Nicolas Deslauriers went toe to toe for a wild fight.
The fight saw Reaves land the majority of the punches but Deslauriers was able to mount a comeback and finish on top.

The fight immediately divided fans on which enforcer won the fight.
Can't say either won this one. Both did a whole lot of nothing here
Reaves should just keep picking on the smaller guys... it makes him look tougher
The Fighters' History
The pair of Reaves and Deslauriers are two of the most experienced fighters in all of the NHL. Through over 800 games of NHL experience, Ryan Reaves has logged 1057 career PIMs.
Deslauriers on the other hand has fewer games played than Reaves at just over 600 but like Reaves, he averages more than a PIM a game with 741 career PIMs.
Last year, Deslauriers was among the top enforcers in the NHL logging 136 PIMs, and has not slowed down this year posting 84 in 57 games.
Reaves has slowed down his fights as he is on the wrong side of 30 and has been averaging less than a PIM a game.
Ryan Reaves Gets The Worst Of The Damage After Fight With Nicolas Deslauriers
After the fight ended, Ryan Reaves left the game to go to the Toronto Maple Leafs dressing room.
Ryan Reaves is not in the penalty box. Not sure if he went straight to the room after the major or during the TV timeout.
Ryan Reaves missing from Maple Leafs bench. He might have gone to the dressing room following his fight with Flyers forward Nic Deslauriers.
It appears that the reason to why Reaves left was because his eye was swollen shut after a couple of punches from Deslauriers.

It has later been reported that Ryan Reaves will not be returning to the game as his eye was poked.

Hopefully, this injury is not too serious to Reaves and he will be able to return to action with the Leafs soon.
