A scary scene in Dallas as Stars forward Mason Marchment was helped off the ice and taken to hospital after suffering a direct puck to the face against the Minnesota Wild.

Marchment was injured in the first period of the Dallas Stars game against the Minnesota Wild, taking a shot from teammate Evgeny Dadonov to the face in what appeared to get him in the nose area. The puck appeared to deflect off of Logan Stankoven before hitting Marchment.

Marchment did not return to the game, out with what the Stars described as an upper-body injury.

Stars Head Coach DeBoer Updates On Mason Marchment's Condition

Dallas Stars head coach Peter DeBoer said that Marchment was sent to a local hospital after leaving the game, with no update on the severity of his injury, although DeBoer said it "wasn't pretty".

DeBoer did not give any word on whether or not Marchment would be out or not, and if so, for how long.

This isn't the first injury this season for Marchment involving a puck to the face. He suffered a similar incident back in November against the Winnipeg Jets, but later returned to the game after leaving for repairs.

Not returning to the game and being sent to a hospital for further testing is a worrisome sign for the Stars, who could be without their second leading scorer for an unknown period of time.

Dallas is already without one key forward long-term in Tyler Seguin, the 32-year-old having undergone hip surgery earlier this month that is expected to keep him sidelined for approximately 4-6 months.

Marchment, 29, has 12 goals and 27 points this season for the Dallas Stars in 33 games played.

Marchment is in his third season with the Stars. In 181 games played for Dallas, Marchment has 46 goals, 65 assists & 111 points. Marchment played three seasons prior for the Toronto Maple Leafs & Florida Panthers.
