Igor Shesterkin was outstanding in the most recent game between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes.

He not only made a number of big saves, but he also had two assists, making him the first goaltender in NHL history to face elimination.

The worst part of it all? Two points for Shesterkin is already a better production than Jesperi Kotkaniemi (for the entire playoffs)

The former third overall pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2018 has effectively collected one point, in 13 playoff games, in 2022.

Pretty embarrassing comparison for a center who earns 6.1 million. Even the opposing goalie is producing more than him.

It really says a lot about Jesperi Kotkaniemi's current playoff struggles with the Hurricanes.

Remember that in the season, KK lost almost 3 full minutes of ice time per game, and in the playoffs, for the past few games, his playing time is in free fall (around 8-9 minutes per game).

And finally, here's the stat that stands out the most:

"Jesperi Kotkaniemi: 0 goals, 1 point in playoffs. He has one goal in his last 31 games (playoffs + regular season). #LetsGoCanes" - NHL Watcher

A pace of not even three goals/82 games. Ouch. I do wonder if the Canes are still that proud of their shot.
