When you're selected third overall in an NHL draft, the expectations are immediately high. Kirby Dach's 59 points in 152 Bettman games is well below expectations, and his former Chicago teammate Alex DeBrincat pointed out why:
« Kirby is still super young. He had some bad luck with the Hawks. He broke his wrist and was out for almost a year. »
According to the Senators' new forward, Dach has struggled to find some momentum because of injuries, but he assures that the talent and effort is there:
« Sometimes you need a change of scenery. I hope he plays well with the Habs and shows what kind of player he is. I saw him every day in practice with the Hawks and I know he has talent. He also wants to be one of the best players on the ice. »
We also saw in practice how talented Dach is. In his case, we just need to find the spark that will make him explode and Martin St-Louis could be that spark.
