Given his performance thus far for the Maple Leafs, Engvall, one of Toronto's restricted free agents heading into the offseason, appeared to have signed a new contract.
With news highs in games played (78), goals (15), assists (20), and points (40), Engvall is coming off perhaps the best season of his National Hockey League career (30).
