BREAKING: NHL Players Banned From Specific TV Ads
NHLers like Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid will be banned from certain TV ads after new rules come in.
Athletes No Longer Allowed In Gambling Ads
Ontario just passed a bill that prevents athletes and retired athletes from appearing in gambling ads. Players such as Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, and Wayne Gretzky have all appeared in these types of ads.
"Active and retired athletes will be banned from appearing in commercials promoting online gambling in Ontario as of Feb. 28, according to new Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario rules.
NHL stars Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky have appeared in such ads."
Thankfully for the Athletes, this is not a nationwide ban so they can still appear in these types of ads in other provinces.
The goal of this ban is to prevent athletes from promoting sports betting to young fans and getting them addicted to gambling which is a terrible addiction to have.
