The Carolina Hurricanes have extended an offer sheet to restricted free agent forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi. No match means Carolina gives Montreal a first and third round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Canadiens might trade those choices for Christian Dvorak.
"I can see Montreal asking Arizona for a 1st and 3rd for Dvorak. Is this a deal framework?" "31 Thoughts," Friedman said.
Montreal will have a big void at centre if they don't match the deal. Jake Evans, Ryan Poehling, and Cedric Paquette are the team's other centermen. No offence to those three players, but they aren't NHL second line centres right now. Adding Dvorak would be significant for Bergevin.
The Coyotes have a tonne of draft picks in 2022, including two first rounders and five second rounders. In return for Dvorak, the Habs may add a pair of future picks.
In 56 games with the Coyotes in 2020-21, Dvorak has 31 points (17 G, 14 A), 12 penalty minutes, and a -11.
