Calgary Flames Shock the Hockey World and Place Key Player on the Trade Block
Calgary Flames are having a rough season so far , 24th place in the NHL while sitting 6th in the Pacific Division. Things are only about to get worse after having many pending UFA's heading into the trade deadline.
Many names on the block but one of them will surprise you
It's very possible we see names like Elias Lindholm, Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev seeing themselves finding a new address from now until the NHL trade deadline, but a new name that has been floating around recently is goaltender Jacob Markstrom.
«To date, [GM Craig] Conroy has not approached Markstrom or his agent Pat Morris about the possibility of waiving his NMC. I'm told that will only happen if the Flames receive an offer they deem acceptable. There is belief out there that Markstrom would consider a trade to a contender, but that has not been confirmed on my end,"
David Pagnotta from the Fourth Period confirmed.
Markstrom trade possible, but Flames need to help
Anytime there's a chance to trade for a proven goaltender is available, teams will call, but to make a trade work and come to fruition, the flames would need to retain salary. The Swede has a 6 million dollar cap hit over the next two seasons.
Teams who have been looking for a goalie like Carolina, Toronto, Seattle, Buffalo will all be calling the Flames on the goaltender. Time will tell , exciting times ahead for NHL fans and the sellers, the Calgary Flames who will be very active now until the trade deadline.
