One thing Carolina Rod Brind'Amour has is passion, and he has plenty of it. Following the Canes 4-3 overtime win in game 6 Thursday night, which was the series clincher for Carolina, Brind'Amour paced the dressing room as he told his players how well they did in the game, fighting through adversity and climbing back from a 3-1 deficit to win in extra time.
Brind'Amour's speech then turned to his father. He explained to the players that his dad had gone through some health issues recently, but he watches every single Carolina game and has been cheering them on the whole way. He said his father was on the phone and it was his birthday, adding the team's OT win was the best gift he could ever get. That's when the team spontaneously started singing Happy Birthday to Brind'Amour's dad.
What a fantastic moment. Hockey truly is the best sport on the planet.
