Over the weekend, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Arizona Coyotes are once again attempting to sell defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to other clubs in order to get rid of the pricey defenseman.
The Coyotes attempted to transfer him last summer, but he stated that he only wanted to move to Vancouver or Boston, and as we all know, a deal could not be reached. It's going to be a little different this time. Every team will be able to call the Coyotes' management, and offers will be returned to OEL. The team is hoping that hearing about an interested team would pique his interest enough for him to sanction the transaction.
The soon-to-be 30-year-old has five years left on his contract, paying him $8.25 million per season. This season he scored three times and added 21 assists in 46 games. The Seattle Kraken expansion draft could play a factor here as there's potential Arizona can work out a deal with the NHL's newest team or they can wait to see who the Kraken take from certain teams and target their lack of defensive depth.
Trade noise is heating up in the desert and once again Oliver Ekman-Larsson is dead smack in the middle of it.
