The latest from Phoenix reporter Chierstin Susel:
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says he endorses the Coyotes' plan for a new arena in Tempe «without reservation» and if approved they will have to sign a document stating they're not allowed to move.
Update: it will be a 30-year non relocation agreement
The issue has never been about whether Phoenix can support NHL hockey because it can. The mistake was getting lured to an arena in the middle of nowhere which required an hour plus drove for most of the population in the MSA.
Reminds me of Ottawa The sens arena is in Kanata which is a 45 minute drive from downtown. Obviously they cannot sell out any of their games.
Someone please hint the obvious to Gary Bettman.
