According to Elliotte Friedman, Seattle Kraken general manager Ron Francis intends to select Florida Panthers goalie Chris Driedger in the expansion draft. Although he will become an uncompensated free agent on July 28, the team is confident that they can sign him before that date.
Still according to Friedman, who is well known in the business, Francis would have a soft spot for Canucks goalie Braden Holtby, however, his salary would cool him down a bit. Could a deal between the two teams be possible? Certainly. Could Vancouver withhold a portion of his salary? It's a plausible option.
This means Seattle will not choose Jake Allen!
Could the Kraken still draft Allen? The chances are slim, but his affordable salary makes it a very interesting option for Seattle.
