Hyman is poised to become an unrestricted free agent on July 28 after finishing the final year of a four-year, $9 million contract. Everyone expects him to receive a rise in salary, which the Maple Leafs just cannot afford. Especially if the rumours of a seven-year mega-deal are true.
While Oilers general manager Ken Holland may be able to pull it off, you have to wonder how Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will react to this offer for Hyman. Last month, RNH agreed to an eight-year, $41 million contract deal to stay in Edmonton, and he'd be furious with this Hyman signing...
Will the Oilers be able to pull it off?
