Trailing 3-2 in their best of seven series versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, the New York Islanders need a boost to their lineup to force a Game 7, and they may have just that.
While it hasn't been confirmed he's playing, captain Anders Lee was skating with the regulars at the team's morning skate today. The 30-year-old has been out since mid-March after requiring surgery on a torn ACL, and at the time was not expected back until training camp in October. If he were to play, it would be a huge add for the Islanders as Lee is one of the more underrated goal scoring forwards in the entire league.
In just 27 games this season, Lee managed 12 goals and 19 points. It was the first time in five seasons he was unable to hit the 20-goal mark, but likely would have if not for the injury. With a career high 40 goals scored in the 2017-18 season, Lee is one of the Islanders' biggest offensive threats and is certainly capable of helping the Islanders force a Game 7 if he is indeed able to play.
