The New York Islanders are keeping details of their cap space under wraps until they can complete a trade, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on the 31 Thoughts Podcast.
According to Friedman during the podcast, the Islanders have already signed several players but won't announce them until GM Lou Lamoriello and his staff have completed whatever deal they're working on. Friedge mentioned Tarasenko, but he was vague about it.
"I think Palmieri is signed, I think Parise is signed, I think Cizikas is signed," said Friedman. "Here's one for the wall for everyone to mark down. The rumour is Cizikas is signed for 6x$2.5M. I don't know if it's true."
Lamoriello is known for keeping quiet during negotiations, so I wouldn't be surprised if these claims were true.
Cizikas at 6x$2.5M stands out. Cizikas is 30 and has 36 career points. True, $2.5M is not a huge cap hit, but signing an ageing veteran player for 6 seasons is a risk.
