While Hall had expressed interest in staying with the Bruins for the following seasons, even indicating that he was looking for a perfect fit with teammates rather than money, it is now anticipated that he will be forced to test the free-agent market once more this summer. Unfortunately for Hall, who stated that he sensed a fit with Boston and was not aiming to maximise his free agency potential.
Hall is expected to be on the market this summer, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, and you have to assume that competing teams would want to sign him.
Following his postseason performance for Boston, certain organisations were quick to express interest in Hall. The Toronto Maple Leafs were lately one of the teams interested in signing him. GM Kyle Dubas has a knack for persuading free players to join a contender, and Hall, a Canadian-born player, would be persuaded to join a Cup-contending team up north.
Since being drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft, Hall has 228 goals and 596 points in 680 games. In his 11-year NHL career, this was only his third appearance in the postseason.
It all depends too on what the Leafs decide to go with Zach Hyman, who might cost too much to remain in Toronto, and what happens at the expansion draft.
However, Hall might go back to his old ways and seek money if the Bruins are going to let him walk.
Interesting developments ahead of July 28th.
