Brady Tkachuk, 21, of the Ottawa Sens, is still a restricted free agent.

In 2018, he was picked 4th overall, just behind the Habs' Kotkaniemi pick.

The potential Sens captain is determined to win. It's vital to him, and he won't commit to a team that doesn't share his goals.

Earlier this month, Shawn Simpson of TSN Ottawa said:

"According to a source close to Tkachuk, Brady likes the Ottawa bunch, but he's waiting to see if the owners are prepared to spend the money necessary to establish a Stanley Cup-winning club."

"I don't see Tkachuk lasting here long if things aren't done right," Simpson tweeted.

Brady Tkachuk is a fan favourite in Ottawa, and his fierce, hard-hitting style of play is highly regarded across the NHL.

Tkachuk's agent, Craig Oster, has had positive meetings with Sens GM Pierre Dorion, according to Ottawa Sun reporter Bruce Garrioch.

Although these discussions are private, Garrioch points to his brother Matthew's second contract as a possible foundation. (3 year, $21 million contract)

Brady may be trying for a similar arrangement.

However, Sens owner Eugene Melnyk has stated that he wants to sign his young star player and make him his future captain.

A $8.5-9 million 8-year contract is planned.
