New York Rangers Jacob Trouba is a Repeat Offender

On Saturday the NHL announced that Jacob Trouba was fined $5,000 (the maximum allowable amount) for high sticking Trent Frederic. Trouba has a history with George Parros and the department of player safety and many fans and insiders felt the punishment did not fit the crime, you can see the incident below.

Ron MacLean and Kevin Bieksa Share their Thoughts on the Fine to Jacob Trouba

The NHL was quick to make their decision and during the Hockey Night in Canada' broadcast, veteran Ron MacLean and former NHL-er Kevin Bieksa spoke out about how the fine wasn't enough.

"That's unbelievable, MacLean said Saturday night, how can that only be a $5,000 fine?"

Bieksa also referred to the play as being caveman like' and should have been punished more harshly. Many fans online have shared similar thoughts and felt Trouba should have been suspended. Regardless, plays like this do not belong in the game. This is all begs the question whether the NHL should increase the maximum fine for on-ice infractions?

The inconsistency with the rulings on dangerous plays are very frustrating for players and fans alike.
