Shane Wright Set to be Traded Following World Juniors
Most NHL scouts are in agreement that Shane Wright needs more time before becoming an NHL regular. The Kraken claiming Eeli Tolvanen from the Nashville Predators on waivers essentially made Wright a definite scratch. This will thus mean he'll be sent down to juniors for the rest of the season.
His team, the Kingston Frontenacs, are in a full rebuild. They traded OHL leading goalscorer, Dallas Stars prospect Francesco Arcuri this week, and they likely already have a deal in place for Wright if he gets sent down to juniors.
While this is almost assuredly Wright's last year in juniors, he would be the highest profile rental in years. Any OHL team looking to win the memorial cup will be in on Wright.
This has been a tough season for the 4th overall pick, and this will become the 4th team he's played for in less than a year (Kingston, Seattle (NHL), Coachella Valley (AHL)). Hopefully wherever he goes, he'll be utilized properly, and his development will continue.
