The Chicago Blackhawks' No. 1 goaltender will not be in Chicago by season's end. Not only did Fleury appear to be displeased with the trade to Chicago, his agent Allan Walsh famously intimated that Fleury would retire in retaliation to the move, but now he has to play for a team that is 4 - 9 -2 and appears to be out of the postseason picture.
Fleury wants to win another cup, and with the Edmonton Oilers apparently interested, he may not be in Chicago for long.
Phil Kessel
Arizona is last place and Phil Kessel still has some gas in the tank.
Kessel is a good player on a poor team. The Blackhawks are still ahead of the Coyotes in the Central Division, and Kessel's time with the team is running out.
Kessel is in the final year of his contract and at 34, he isn't part of the Coyotes' future plans, especially as they rebuild. Kessel has reportedly wanted a trade, so finding a contender willing to take him on for a postseason run seems prudent.
After several questionable decisions by Sharks general manager Doug Wilson, most notably the contracts granted to Evander Kane and Erik Karlsson, there are valid questions about whether or not they can get Hertl under the cap on a new deal.
