The Toronto Maple Leafs are poised for another playoff year. Now committed to getting out of their fabled first round slump, Kyle Dubas is motivated to make a big move.

The St-Louis Blues look like a skeleton of the team they were last year. With young pieces Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas locked up for eight years, a retool might be looming.

In comes captain, and 2019 Conn Smythe trophy winner Ryan O'Reilly. He's an expiring unrestricted free agent, and he doesn't appear to fit in St-Louis' long-term cap situation. He may be one of the bigger ticket members on the trade market.

If he is made available, the Leafs are set to pursue him. What's a better playoff rental than a player that won the playoff MVP award just 3 years ago.

Insider reports show that the Maple Leafs have already had internal discussions regarding O'Reilly, and there is a real chance that he changes threads from Blue and Yellow to Blue and White.

Do you think adding a player of O'Reilly's calibre can get the Leafs past the first round? We'll just have to wait and see.
