With the newest Professional Women's Hockey League getting started and their free agency starting to pick up, Toronto has got their newest player.
Toronto Signs Nurse
The new PWHL league has just opened up their free agency and for the first time all of the world's top female players are free to sign to any of the 6 teams.
Jeff Marek reported yesterday that Toronto has reportedly signed their first three players.
PWHL - sounds like Sarah Nurse, Renata Fast and Blayre Turnbull will be the first three signings in Toronto
The 28-year-old Nurse is the biggest name in female sports and will be a massive part of the new Toronto Franchise.
Nurse had 8 points in 7 games for Team Canada Women's national team.
Other Signings in The PWHL
Three of the remaining five teams were also busy signing their first players to the squads.
Montreal are looking to make an instant rivalry with Toronto as they have signed Marie-Philip Poulin, who is considered by many as the best female hockey player of all time.
Montreal also have signed Team Canada top goalie Anne-Renee Desbiens and forward Laura Stacey.
Ottawa have signed Jenner Clark, Maschmeyer and Brianne Jenner have all signed to be in the nations capital.
Minneosota have signed Team America's superstar Kendall Coyne Schofield, Kelly Pannek and Lee Stecklein.
This new and exciting league is starting to shape up and create very interesting teams that have not been seen before.
