According to what Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now reports, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes' phone has been ringing off the hook in recent days.
« According to a well-connected NHL source, the Canadiens are looking to move some of their surplus forwards right now, but general managers aren't ready to start moving pieces of their roster until they have a clearer picture of their players in training camp." -Marco D'Amico
Still according to the reporter's source, Hughes would like to decrease his payroll by a few million, before the start of the season. We're talking about at least $2M, in order to remove Carey Price from the off-season long-term injury list and maximize their famous LTIR after the season starts, in case of an injury during the next campaign.
Obviously, Hughes wants to move a forward, with the goal of getting a defenseman, preferably a righty.
