Following the Calgary Flames' elimination in the five-game conference semifinals against the Edmonton Oilers, Kent Hughes received some very good news.
Acquired in the deal that sent Tyler Toffoli to Calgary, the Flames' 2022 first round pick, now owned by the Habs, will be a little higher than if the Alberta team had advanced a little further in the playoffs.
At best, the Canadiens would have received the 27th pick and at worst, the 32nd, at the next auction, presented in Montreal next July. Obviously, it will be between the two.
So, the precise rank remains to be determined, but it's great news for Kent Hughes.
