Wayne Gretzky Shares His Intentions For When Alex Ovechkin Passes His Goal Record
As this article is being written, Alexander Ovechkin just completed a hattrick to score his 800th career goal.
This puts him just one goal away from Gordie Howe, and 94 away from the Great One himself.
If one player can beat Gretzky's record, it will be Ovechkin, and now Wayne Gretzky has shared what he will do in the time leading up to Ovechkin beating him.
Gretzky has promised to follow Ovechkin around at home and on the road until he beats his record.
This will mirror the same tradition followed when Gretzky beat Gordie Howe's record.
It will be an interesting few seasons to see if Ovechkin completes the feat. 94 goals may be a lot, but nothing seems impossible for the Great 8.
