Joel Quenneville is eligible to return to the NHL

Gary Bettman and the NHL released a statement today announcing that former Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman and head coach Joel Quenneville have both been reinstated to the league.

Of course, both men have been out of the league for several years after the Kyle Beach sexual assault was uncovered by investigative journalist Rick Westhead. That investigation lead to both men being removed from the league. As such, neither has been with an NHL team since. It now appears as though that will change however.

#NHL announces that former #Blackhawks executives Stan Bowman, Joel Quenneville and Al MacIsaac have been reinstated and are now eligible to seek employment in the league again.

Can be hired after July 10.

Since there isn't enough going on, the NHL just reinstated Stan Bowman, Al MacIsaac and Joel Quenneville, who were banished after the @NHLBlackhawks
sexual assualt scandal.

The fan response to this has been overwhelmingly negative. Very few fans are happy to hear this news as most are frustrated with the league's continued lack of accountability. The Blackhawks hardly received a slap on the wrist for their coverup of the assault and now the men responsible for covering it up are being allowed back into the league.

it's embarrassing how bad this league is at literally everything and even more embarrassing that they get away with it.

What an absolute disgrace. League once again proving they care nothing about the game initiatives they try to champion. Next time you see them post something about "equality" just remember they've done nothing but ensure the hockey man stays in power.

This move is certainly a big deal for the league. This is likely why they released the news today, hoping that it would be drowned out by all the breaking stories of players signing with their new teams. We will just have to see what comes of this. Stan Bowman has already been rumored to be linked to the Edmonton Oilers. Be sure to tune in on the 10th to see if that comes to fruition or not.
