Life-changing news for son of infamous coach Darryl Sutter
Recently an announcement was made that has had a major impact on the career of legendary coach Darryl Sutter's son Brett Sutter.
The Sutter family is one of the most iconic families in the history of hockey. Starting with Darryl Sutter and his brother Brent the family carved out incredible NHL playing careers. Then Darryl Sutter transitioned to coaching while his son Brett began his playing career being drafted in the 6th round of the 2005 NHL Draft.
Yesterday it was announced that after a 17-year career in professional hockey, Brett Sutter would be retiring. Throughout his career Brett Sutter worked to carve out a career as a depth player in the NHL or a star in the AHL. His most success came with the Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames, and Los Angeles Kings.
Brett Sutter has officially announced his retirement from playing hockey after 7 @NHL seasons, and 17 @TheAHL seasons.
Brett was drafted in the 6th round of the 2005 Entry Draft to the @NHLFlames. Over the course of his NHL career, he would play in 60 games, scoring 10 points with the Flames, @Canes, and @mnwild.
Sutter excelled in the AHL and was a leader on numerous teams for most of his career. A warrior in the league, he played in 1090 regular-season games in league, scoring 463 points.
Brett will be joining the @AHLWranglers bench as an assistant coach.

In his playing career, Brett Sutter played 60 games in the NHL and had 10 career points. In the AHL he found much more success playing over 1,000 games and tallying over 450 points.
In the final 2 seasons of Brett Sutter's playing career, he returned to the Calgary Flames organization where he was drafted and became the captain of their AHL team the Calgary Wranglers.
Now he will follow in his father's footsteps and begin his coaching career in the AHL.
