The Leafs are currently sitting at 2-2-0 but many expect them to be fairing better.

The .500 record is nice, but with the play of the team recently it feels as though 2-2 is a lucky record and they could be 0-4 if some bounces did not go right.

The losses to the Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens were especially painful.

Players also to blame

Fraser Minten making the Leafs out of training camp was unexpected and welcome. Matthew Knies and Minten both earned every square inch of their opportunities. The plethora of random linemates is not helping him gain a strong footing to remain in the line-up.

Max Domi has looked lost out there and really does not seem to be fitting in.

It is still quite early though, so a lot of the reaction is over reaction. Additionally, Tyler Bertuzzi has been playing through injury so he has not been able to contribute as well.

Coaches Hot Seat

Keefe needs to adjust his system to fit new players. Splitting Matthews and Marner may bring some stability to the other parts of his line up. Letting Minten and Knies play with some consistent linemates will help too.

Keefe needs to adjust his system to allow more consistency to help his players flourish and the Leafs take the Atlantic division. The calls to replace the coach will grow the longer Toronto plays so lackadaisical.
