With the long-awaited Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals nearing by the minute, Explore Edmonton rented out billboards near the amerant Bank Arena to taunt the Florida Panthers.

The Florida Panthers have had an unfortunate turnaround in their gameplay during the Stanley Cup Finals. After leading the series 3-0, their starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky seemed to lose his mojo, giving up 5 goals in only 17 shots. The Oilers won that and every game since, tying the series and forcing a Game 7.

"Bobrovsky gets the boot after giving up 5 goals on 17 shots 😬"

Yet, after the Oilers pulled off three remarkable games, it seems the City of Edmonton wanted to pour salt in the Panthers' wounds. Explore Edmonton, responsible for the city's tourism strategies, rented out a few billboards near Florida's Amerant Bank Arena to taunt the rival team.

"Hey Panthers, enjoying the view? We brought a taste of the Great White North to the Sunshine State with our digital billboards. 🏒

We've heard about your tradition of tossing rats on the ice (interesting choice), but Edmonton is rat-free & we'd love to keep it that way! 🚫🐀"

While many may find this behavior inappropriate, the response to their publicity stunt was overwhelmingly met with laughter and approval. With the Florida Panthers playing in the area tomorrow night, this reaction will probably not feel great.

The Florida Panthers will have one last chance to close the series victorious tomorrow night. Yet, with how far Edmonton is evidently willing to go, the Oilers may finally bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada.
