The veteran winger is no stranger to situations like this. He has been in the Stanley Cup final four times before, winning once with the Anaheim Ducks. He knows what it takes to win and how much it hurts to get so close but fail at the last possible moment.
He seems to be doing everything he can to win the Cup one more time, hyping up his teammates in the process. This morning he went around giving each of his teammates a stick tap during what could be his last practice with the Oilers.
However, it does not appear as though this will be his last practice period. While the 39-year-old is on an expiring contract, he explicitly stated that he plans on continuing his career on the ice after tomorrow's winner-take-all matchup.
While it certainly would be a major stretch for him to play in five more seasons, he showed this year that he can still keep up with younger players, and if you put him with Connor McDavid, he can still score big goals.
Perry has 12 goals and 22 points split between the Blackhawks and Oilers this season. In the playoffs, he has a goal and three points in 18 games. Be sure to tune in tomorrow night to see if he is a factor in the final game of the season.
