Penguins are front-runners on former 5th overall pick
Luke Schenn has had a storied career in the NHL, with 918 games played in the NHL and won 2 consecutive Stanley Cup rings with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
His next landing spot may be with another contender, as they need leadership down the stretch.
According to Elliott Friedman, there are two teams in need of Luke Schenn's service. The Boston Bruins would love to have Schenn on their team as it is a given they're contenders at this moment.
Also, the Pittsburgh Penguins could use a defenseman like Schenn, as Jan Rutta has been out since January 14th and Jeff Petry has been made available.
Unlike a lot of other players this trade deadline, Schenn's contract is a bargain for his contributions on the blue line and is easily moveable.
With both teams pushed against the cap, they need to make the money work and figure out once again, who the odd-man out is.
