Now, the Bolts are exploring options for the beginning of the season.
If they decide to get another goalie, two players would be great fits in the organization.
The first candidate is Chris Driedger, currently playing for the Seattle Kraken. Injuries have come in the way of his career, and he spent most of last season in the infirmary.
His numbers are good, though. Before his injury, he had a .917% save percentage and a 2.45 GAA. He would be a great short-term option for the Lightning.
If the Bolts want him, they'll need to trade for him. Currently, Driedger is the Kraken's number three, and this could force Seattle's hand to trade him.
The other option is Antti Raanta. For now, he plays in Carolina, but with the young Pyotr Kochetkov coming up, his job could be at risk sooner rather than later.
Raanta, 34, has a lot of experience and could be a great option to replace Vasilevskiy. In 253 career games, he has impressive numbers: a .918% save percentage and a 2.43 GAA.
However, with all the players on waivers, don't be surprised if the Lightning decides to wait until one is available for free.
