Brad Treliving will have to make a decision concerning Matt Murray.
Fans and analysts agree: he needs to go. His salary isn't cap friendly and in order to sign some other players, Treliving will have to get rid of him.
The Leafs are safe with Samsonov and Woll between the pipes, they don't need Murray.
Trade speculations and rumors about the Leafs buying out his contract are everywhere.
A new proposal emerged, and it makes a lot of sense.
The Washington Capitals could be interested in the seasoned goalie. He wasn't bad last season, when he was healthy and he could easily replace Charlie Lindgren.
The Caps are starting to let the other teams know that Anthony Mantha is available on the market.
The 28 years-old winger also has a massive injury history, but he showed that he's able to bounce back after adversity.
He still has some good hockey left in him and Toronto could be a perfect destination to reach his full potential.
If the Caps absolutely want to get rid of Mantha, they could trade for Murray. If it doesn't work out, it would be cheaper to buy out Murray than Mantha, so it's a win-win situation.
Even if the Leafs may have to throw something extra in the trade, they would get a good trop-6 winger.
Would you make that trade?
As seen on Maple Leafs Daily -
Leafs have a chance to add size and strength to their top 6 with Matt Murray trade.
