The Toronto Maple Leafs came very close to beating the Boston Bruins in the first round of this year's NHL playoffs. Outside of the Core 4, much of this could be attributed to 29-year-old forward Max Domi who was traded from the Dallas Stars. After his first goal in the playoffs, he and his father Tie Domi became the first father-son duo to do so in franchise history.
Now, weeks after their round-one departure, the Toronto Maple Leafs finally decided their next steps with Domi. They have now officially signed him to a 4-year extension at a little shy of $4 million yearly.
While this will likely be widely recognized as a great move for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Max Domi had a statement to make about the extension itself. In a great display of team pride and good humor, the forward shared a video that deep faked his face on that of Leonardo DiCaprio's character in the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street, using the scene in which he exclaims that he is not leaving. It then cuts into fan-cam footage of iconic moments and figures associated with the franchise.
Given this post, it is clear that Max Domi not only has a good sense of humor, but dedication to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hopefully, he can continue to prove his worth to the team and help push them further into an upcoming season's playoffs.
