Setback for Cale Makar: Head Injury Strikes Again in His Return to the Game
Head injuries are some of the scariest in hockey. The knowledge that they could have long term effects has prompted the NHL to be much more serious with their management.
When Cale Makar was sidelined during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins a few weeks ago, after an accidental hit to the head by Jeff Carter, it was a massive blow for the Colorado Avalanche.
He returned to play today, against the St. Louis Blues, and the worst possible thing occurred.
During the game, he was involved in a head-first collision with Alexei Toropchenko.
When healthy, Makar is having an amazing season. Sitting at 45 points in 46 games, the reigning Norris winner is still one of the best in the league.
Hopefully he isn't sidelined too long, as the Avalanche will need him in their playoff push.
