Earlier today the contract extension for William Nylander was made official. After it was announced publicly the team was able to show their support for Nylander and celebrate with him.

Nylander Signs Massive Long Term Extension In Toronto

Over the last several days reports had indicated a long-term extension between William Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs was close. Today things got over the finish line as Nylander signed an 8-year deal. Nylander will make over 11 million dollars during that time and be relied on as a major part of this team's core.

This was a huge day for the Maple Leafs and Nylander. For months there had been rumors of the two sides parting ways if they could not come to an agreement. However, that will not be the case and Nylander's teammates seem ecstatic that he is staying in Toronto.

Nylander Celebrates Extension With His Teammates

During practice earlier today, the vibes were high after the monumental day for Nylander. His teammates made sure to make him feel special and celebrate the occasion.

This was particularly true for young forward Matthew Knies who made sure to go out of his way to recognize Nylander on their way out to the ice for practice. Nylander can be seen with a huge smile on his face and looks to be relieved that the process is over.

This reaction by the Maple Leafs to Nylander's extension shows just how appreciated he is within that locker room. This season Nylander has been a huge part of the Maple Leafs' success and the organization will need that to continue for years to come.
