A Western conference trade sends two top young forwards to new teams for the upcoming season.

In the Western Hockey League, the Medicine Hat Tigers have acquired Minnesota Wild prospect RW Ryder Ritchie from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for St. Louis Blues C/LW Tomas Mrsic.

The details of the move was first reported by Jesse Courville-Lynch of 'The Hockey Writer. Joel Henderson of 'PuckPreps' first hinted at a potential WHL deal.

Sources have confirmed that a deal is indeed in place between the two teams.

Ryder Ritchie was a second round pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. 45th overall. Ritchie, the son of former NHLer Byron Ritchie, was discussed as a potential first round before a serious knee injury caused him to miss a portion of the season, only getting 47 games and 44 points with Prince Albert.

Tomas Mrsic was a fourth round pick of the St. Louis Blues in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, 113th overall. Mrsic, who can play both at center and on the wing, had 23 goals and 62 points in 63 games for a stacked Medicine Hat team that had fellow Draft eligibles Cayden Lindstrom & Andrew Basha, along with 2026 NHL Draft top prospect Gavin McKenna.
