PK Subban under fire for comments about Brad Marchand's injury
PK Subban is once again under fire for questionnable comments he made in a live intervention about Brad Marchand's injury.
As you're probably aware, the Boston Bruins suffered a massive loss in the third game of their series against the Florida Panthers as the captain Brad Marchand had to leave the game because of this dirty hit from Panthers' Sam Bennett:
Unfortunately for the Bruins, it didn't stop there. Marchand had to miss the last two games, and nothing indicates if he'll be ready to play on Friday for game 6, as Boston will face elimination for the second straight time.
PK Subban discussed the situation on TV. He shocked many Bruins' fans when he said that it was "probably a long time coming" for Marchand:
"I've known Marchand for as long as I've been in the league, and as long as I've been in hockey. I won a gold medal with him at 18, played in the world juniors. I've known him, I've seen him get over on hundreds, maybe thousands of guys. This was one moment where he was the hydrant, not the dog.
This was a moment where he was the bug out the windshield. So I think that for Brad Marchand, probably a long time coming for him, but it's unfortunate he got knocked out of the series. That's just a part of the game, though. That's playoff hockey. These things are going to happen."
What he means is that Marchand gave a lot of controversial hits in his career, and that while it's unfortunate that it happened in the playoffs, had it coming.
He has faced backlash from many fans on X:
""Probably a long time coming for Marchand" is a really gross thing to say about a brain injury. I don't care who it is."
"I'm very happy to say PK Subban sucks. To say this about any player is gross"
