In breaking news, it has been reported that the Flames are close to extending their next potential captain.
The Calgary Flames and veteran Mikael Backlund are reportedly close to getting an extension done, aside from some minor issues that both sides are working on finalizing.
It sounds like the Calgary Flames are getting close to finalizing a contract extension with veteran Mikael Backlund. The sides are believed to be hammering out some final issues.
Backlund has played his entire career with the Flames, appearing in over 900 games with the club. The 34-year-old centreman has 185 career goals and 307 career assists with the Flames.
Many are expecting Backlund to be the frontrunner to be the next Captain of the Flames, citing his extensive experience with the club.
