Connor Bedard's first NHL campaign will be followed closely by hockey fans all over the world.
They're not the only ones who are eager to see what could be a historic year in the NHL; NHLers are excited too.
Adding this sort of competition to the League is good for the sport and it pushes the other athletes to surpass themselves.
At least, that seems to be the case with Auston Matthews.
In a recent interview ahead of tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres, the highest-paid player in the NHL made a bold prediction about Bedard's first game in the NHL.
Matthews, who was the first player to score four goals in his first NHL game, was asked if he thought Bedard could score four in his debut as well.
Part of him was probably joking, but at the same time, with that kind of talent, you never know what can happen.
Bedard already scored three goals in his first pre-season game. As the pace gets faster and the teams improve, it'll be interesting to see how the 18-year-old will respond to the pressure.
