Darryl Sutter is one of the most highly-regarded coaches in the league. He has coached championship teams, and he is a true veteran.

Unfortunately, Sutter has his issues. Most notably, his disdain towards young, and undersized players.

When Jakob Pelletier made his NHL Debut, it would be expected that his coach would praise him. While he only played seven minutes, he looked great.

Instead, Sutter opted to bully and demean him. Fans began calling for him to be fired, and the future of his time in Calgary was put into question.

Now, a former Calgary Flame has spoke out very critically towards Sutter.

Denis Gauthier had a terrible experience under Sutter, which he shared with reporters:

It's disappointing and distressing for the kid who is 21 years old and living his dream of playing in the NHL. He was called up two weeks ago and he wasn't dressed during that time. He was just practicing.

It sounds like a guy who didn't want him there. It sounds like it was his GM who forced the recall of Pelletier on him. He put up with it and had him practice for two weeks and at some point he had no choice but to play him. That's how it sounds to me. I may be wrong, but with my experience with Darryl, I wouldn't be surprised.

Instead, he insulted the process, the kid and the family.

So, a former player can attest, Sutter is a bully. Hopefully things turn around before the Flames get a bad reputation.
